• Week 104 April 16 •
"When Jesus came to the region of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, "Who do people say the Son of Man is?" They replied, "Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, Jeremiah or one of the prophets." (Matt. 16:13-14)
I used to work with a man who believed in a historical man called Jesus. He would agree that a life was lived and events took place. However, he didn't think it had any connection to his life. The life of Jesus really didn't mean anything. He would say that Jesus was a good man and no more.
Who would you say Jesus is?
Jesus continues in this passage in Matthew to ask Peter the same question. "Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God." (verse 16)
Peter took this to a whole new level. More then a good man, Peter said that Jesus was the Son of the living God!
Would you be as bold? Are you willing to say that Jesus was more then a good man, that in fact he is the Son of God! Be warned, this will change your life. The reality of Jesus as the Son of God confronts every area of our life we think we own and have under control. The confrontation is that this life is about more then today. It's about more then what we want and enjoy. It's about the very God who sent Jesus as his son for the redemption of mankind. The God who was willing to pay our sin debt and free us from the law of sin and death beckons the deepest connection to our life possible.
As you face tomorrow in light of the words and truth of God, how does Jesus affect the way you live? Who do you say Jesus is?
