I was 17 and one of my friends became pregnant only a few months into her relationship with her boyfriend. She was a Christian girl from Christian parents with plenty of spiritual influence in her life. The pregnancy was shocking and humiliating to the family. With her parents encouragement she went to a clinic and had an abortion. It only took a few months for her to tell me. She was emotionally ripped apart by what she did. Two years later while in college she called me again, weeping over the phone with the decision she had made to abort her baby. She knew there was something terribly wrong with what she did.

Why does abortion exist within our country? Why is abortion so devastating? I hope to bring some understanding to your mind and heart about what is going on everyday in America. This is longer then I normally write, but as I write the severity of the issue and the amount of information at hand is hard to shorten. Please take the time to read the entire post. 3/4 of women who have abortions say, "having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities. 3/4 would also say, "they can't afford a child". Nearly all Abortions are used to cover up unwanted pregnancies. Abortion is a selfish decision of convenience. For a country and for Christians who believe in the sacrifice of self for the life of another we have become two-faced thinking that sacrificing your baby for the good of yourself is acceptable.

Since 1973 in America 50 million babies have been aborted. Abortion must be stopped before another 50 million helpless and innocent babies are cut apart, sucked out, burned alive, or suffocated to death. Abortion is the ending of human life. There have been people that have argued over the timing of life. They have tried to reason that babies are not really humans being aborted. Here is the truth for you. Life begins at conception. Amongst biologists, doctors and even medical textbooks the agreement has always been that life beings at conception.

From Professor Hymie Gordon a doctor at Mayo Clinic, "By all the criteria of modern molecular biology, life is present from the moment of conception." Dr. Alfred M. Bongioanni, Professor of Pediatrics and Obstetrics, University of Pennsylvania states, "I have learned from my earliest medical education that human life begins at the time of conception." Even in 1981 the Senate did research to determine from amongst doctors the timing of life, this is their official findings; "Physicians, biologists, and other scientists agree that conception marks the beginning of the life of a human being. a being that is alive and is a member of the human species. There is overwhelming agreement on this point in countless medical, biological, and scientific writings." Life begins at connection. Aborting an embryo or a fetus is killing the life of a human being.

According to the "Unborn Victims of Violence Act", signed by President Bush in 2004, a deadly assault on a woman's embryo or fetus by someone attacking the women could be charged with murder. In other words, if someone attacks a pregnant woman and ends up killing her baby it is considered murder. However, according to current other laws in America if a women decides she doesn't want to have the baby she can determine it to be "not living" and have a doctor abort it without either mother or doctor being legally liable for the death of the baby! This is twisted and completely wrong! We must seek to end all abortion.

Psalm 139:13 - "You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother's womb." The Psalmist acknowledges that God is at work in creating and growing life within a mothers womb. At 7 weeks fingers and toes have already developed in a fetus and you can see them through a Sonogram. By the end of the first trimester the embryo is now called a fetus with developed organs, limbs, and human form. 87% of all abortions happen in the first trimester. Early Abortion in an effort to avoid ending "life" is critically wrong. Life has already developed.

As I write this my wife is now 22 weeks pregnant. It grieves my heart and has brought me to tears to think of anything happening to our precious gift of life that God has given us. God is the author of life and the only one who can end life. It's not our decision to end life. God takes the life that he creates very seriously. In Genesis 9:5-6 God states that an accounting must be made for the shedding of blood. In Genesis 4 when Cain killed Abel God said to him, "the blood of your brother cries out from the ground". How much do you think the blood of 50 million aborted babies cries out from the ground?

When life is taken it must be accounted for. In Ezekiel 35:6 God says that if we do not hate bloodshed it will pursue us. If we do not hate the murdering of unborn babies it will follow us and our country. America has a large accounting that must be made before God for what we have done. You may think this is the issue of those involved. Let me tell you, you are involved. This is your issue. This is an issue of righteousness and the love of life that God has commanded us to uphold. We cannot stand by while more babies are murdered through abortion and think it is ok. This issue grieves the heart of God and every day he hears the blood of the babies cry out from the ground!

There is much we can do. In the last election there were several states with Abortion-Ban Propositions to be voted on. Sadly, according to Yahoo News and CNN Colorado, South Dakota both failed to pass Abortion-Bans while California and Oregon both lost out on requiring parental notification. Only 35 states even require minors to tell their parents they are having an abortion. That means a 13 year old girl could have an abortion on her own without her parents knowing. In 1994 a 15 year old girl in Tx. had an abortion without her parents knowing. 5 days later due to infections and complications from a botched abortion she died. We need to push for legislation that preserves life instead of allowing it to be so easy to end life!

We need to pray harder then ever. After these elections we are faced with more Pro-Abortion government officials then ever before in our country. Because God is a God of justice we must intercede before him for the mercy of our country. We must pray for his mercy to be poured out on those who have had abortions and those that perform them. We do not fight against flesh and blood, but against the principalities and powers of darkness. (Eph. 6:12) We must have compassion for those involved but defiance to the lies and deception of darkness. We must pray for the ending of Abortion in our country. For a country whose constitution claims life and liberty as our "inalienable rights" we have become tolerant of too much bloodshed!

Only the blood of Jesus Christ can cleanse us of what we have done as a country and what you and I have stood by and allowed to happen. We must claim the grace of God upon where we have not hated bloodshed, and where we have accepted the deception of those who have tried to convince us that Abortion is ok. May God reveal plainly to us his passion for life and the seriousness of the situation we are in as a nation.

Once you do, there is no going back to complacency. You and I now have a responsibility.

I pray everyday for our baby, and now I pray everyday for the ending of Abortion. Please pray for the ending of Abortion! Do something about it!
