Our country will be getting a new President in January. We already know who it will be too. This whole election process has got me thinking more then politics usually do. Normally I get so frustrated with politics I just yell at the TV for 5 minutes and then I have to go do something else. For many years now I have been fairly apathetic about government, keeping myself at a comfortable distance. However, this election changed my mind, and I would have to say my heart.

Your like or dislike of the new President is not as important as you might think. Too many people in our country vote because they like the face or the jokes of one candidate. The vote because of the candidates ethnicity or their speeches. The majority of our country votes based on opinions. What we need is not going to be found in a man, it will only come with the redemption and truth of God.

Our Country came into existence because there were men and women who cared about truth, ethics, and freedom. They had fundamental beliefs based on the word of God about how people should live and be governed. They sacrificed their lives not for the their favorite, good looking, charming President. They sacrificed their lives for what they believed was morally and ethically right. read more

We are opinionated people aren't we? We have slogans like "Have it your way!" It comes from an attitude that our opinions are generally right and important. How often do you think your opinions are correct? Where are you getting your information and what are you basing these ideas on? We need to be reminded that the only time we are right and true is when we are in agreement with the truth of God. There is nothing true apart from God. There is no human opinion that can stand up to the wisdom and knowledge of God. (Rom. 11:33-36)

I realize a need within my life to be more involved in society. I don't want to say I'm interested in politics, but I am interested in making the truth of God known.(Zech. 8:16)(II Tim. 4:17) God has not only given me opportunity to speak up in my family, among my friends, or at church, He has given me an opportunity to speak to the nation. My votes, my community involvement, and my prayers are a responsibility. There needs to be a shift from merely talking about change, to being the change. ( I John 3:18-19)

I hope you set aside your opinions, seek what God desires, and then follow his leading to be the change your community and this country needs. I hope you can see there is opportunity for you to get involved and be part of the change this country requires. Most importantly I hope you can pray for this nation and it's people consistently.
