• Week 155 June 17 •

Life is a journey, it's true. There are many characters, plot twists, tear-jerker's, and side-splitters. Much like a book or a movie there is a story to unfold, a tale that needs telling. But what is a story worth telling? What makes the journey worthwhile?

God.

Truly, without the belief that God exists life becomes filled with "so-what's". If God doesn't exist than what is the meaning of life. You may come up with a few that sound good like curing diseases, having children, or inventing something. But ultimately it wouldn't take long for a new disease to pop up, for you and your children to die, or even your invention to become worthless. None of these will last for eternity. To make life truly worth-while there must be an eternal cause. Something that not only affects this life but becomes part of life after death. God makes eternity possible. He is eternal.

It's not enough to merely believe in God to make your life suddenly meaningful. You must believe that God's existence affects your existence. How does the existence of God affect the way you live?

When it comes to your journey you are not the main character. If life was a movie you are a supporting actor. It isn't even your story that matters. The existence of God demands that he be the main character, and that His story be told. It is the only story that has always existed and will always exist. It is the only story that brings life and separates good from evil. What is your part when it comes to telling his story? (John 13:34-35)

To believe that God does not exist is called "Atheism. Let's say you believe God exists though, you even believe Christ died on the cross for your sins. You call yourself a Christian. Great! However, there is a subtle form of" Christian Atheism" I've come to realize in my life. It creeps up when someone asks for prayer and I don't pray for them, when I make a decision without thinking about God, or I spend my time and money on non-eternal things. Where in your life are you living as though God doesn't exist?

This "Christian Atheism" removes God from the story. We get wrapped up in our story being told and we make ourselves the main character. Psalm 53 says, "What fools!" It is foolishness to think that there is any better story out there than the redemptive, eternal, life giving story of God! Take a moment and look at your life. Ask yourself what story you want to tell with your words, your actions, and your soul. Take every opportunity to tell the story that matters. (Romans 10:14-15)

Today is the day to tell the story of God.
