There is always something profound to be learned when we spend time in God's presence. There is a depth of understanding and wisdom that can only be found from God. How much time have you spent with God lately?
That question doesn't neccisarly narrow it down, does it? Technically we all live in the presence of God becuase he is fully present within the universe he created. He is never far off but up close in all the details of this world. In his sovereignty he in minutely involved within the life of every person. Through salvation his presence is especially promised to always be with us. ( Matt. 28)
There is something to be recognized. Just because God exists fully present within your life and this world doesn't mean that merely by existing you spend time with him. He is spending time with you. If you were at a party and your friend Jenny was there we could say that you were in her presence. However, it would be possible for you to never interact or even talk to Jenny even though she is right there next to you the whole night. This is often how we treat our relationshp with God. We take for granted that he is always with us and yet we ignore his presence within our lives.
Whether it is shame, pride, selfishness, or complacency we often neglect spending time with God. Spending time with God happens when we engage in his presence. When we talk to him, read from his word, or worship we are engaging in his presence and true relationship is happening. How good of a relationship can you have with Jenny if you never talk to her, listen to her, or even notice that she is there? You would have a shallow and meaningless relationship.
If you desire meaning and depth to your relationship with God you're going to have to actually spend time with him. Not just when it is convenient, not just when you need something, not just when you want to talk but in every area of your life. God is the most meanignful and fulfilling relationship you can ever have, why keep ignoring him?
Go spend some time with God now, don't put it off.
