"Your love, O Lord, reaches to the heavens, your faithfulness to the skies." (Ps. 36:5)
Faith is a million dollar word. It's one of those theologies or concepts that can often elude our understanding. There are a few things about faith that we can apply however.
Faith is a choice. It's beyond what you feel to actually positioning your will in one direction over another. It means that faith goes beyond your feelings to a committed decision, whether it's in your car, your friend, or your relationship with God.
Faith is inevitable. You consistently live out of faith. Your faith can be in you, someone else, an object, or God. Every decision we make has faith. Our normal instinct is to trust ourselves. This instinct however is a stubborn desire to be in control. If you aren't allowing God to be in control, you are in control. It's one or the other.
God is faithful, we are not. God has proven that he always keeps his promises. He is always honest and trustworthy. Whatever God does, He does it perfectly. We on the other hand make mistakes consistently. The ironic part is that although we know how unfaithful we are we'd rather trust ourselves.
If you trust God with your eternity, why can't you trust Him for today? God will always come through. He is faithful.
