• Week 196 July 21 •

So, how did it go? Were you able to read straight through the book (of the Bible that is) that you chose? Or, did you have to take a few days to a week to read it? That's fine. In fact, you probably got more out of it. I'd love to hear what God taught you and is teaching you from that book. Feel free to email me at thriveatcircle@yahoo.com. I hope the time you took to read your book was really good. Sometimes it is really hard to do that.

I've found in life, right where I am right now, that being silent and taking time to read the Word is not easy. You might be saying incredulously, "Wait, I thought Matt(hew) was super spiritual and read the Bible for 2 hours each day and spent 4 hours in prayer?!?" Nope, I've got to be honest. I do not. But I think that I and everyone else should be challenged in their everyday lives to take 10 minutes, 38 minutes, 1 hour, or 3.8526 hours away from the busyness of life and just sit, be silent, and listen for God. You may also like to read Scripture. That's also a good idea. :) I think in taking this time and focusing on God our lives will be a lot better. I'm not saying everything will necessarily go smoother, that you will win a Ferrari, or that you will even have less struggles and difficulties. What I am saying is that spending that time I think you will be better equipped to deal with every situation, choice, struggle, etc. and perhaps be even more at peace because you are putting God first in your life by spending time with Him, and that is what He commands us to do.

Just some virtual food for your technologically savvy brain. I hope you guys are having a great week! My challenge to you this week is to spend some time EVERYDAY, yes everyday(!), in the Word, prayer, and silence. I don't care how long it is. Everyone will spend a different time. But do it. Just do it!
